G. Allen Dale secures probationary sentence for resident of American Samoa charged with conversion of government property. Mr. Dale's client and her husband accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars to construct low income housing in American Samoa. The federal government alleged that the money was not put to the use for which it was intended but rather was used by the clients for personal expenses. Even though the federal sentencing guidelines called for a sentence of 18 to 24 months in prison, Dale and his co-counsel persuaded the court to sentence the clients to probation.
